Upma (Uppuma)


Upma

Sooji Coarse - 1 and a half cup.
vegetables (1 carrot, some peas, few cabbage).
Mustard, Channa dal , oil as required.
2 to 3 Green chillies- chopped.
Turmeric powder(optional).
Water, salt - 1 and a half spoon.
Onion - 1(Medium).
Fresh coriander .

First slightly roast the sooji (coarse) wheatlets in a dry pan .

Now let the mustard crackle in the oil, then put channa dal till it's lightly roasted, then mix green chillies, turmeric powder. Let the onion also roast for sometime with salt till the water oozes out.

Mix 4 and a half cups of water and let the vegetables cook in it .Finally add the roasted wheatlets and let them cook with continuous mixing till the water gets absorbed or the wheatlets are cooked and not burnt.

Finally garnish with coriander if you like. This serves two persons.
